I will be walking in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life on April 1. At least that’s the plan- I wasn’t able to actually walk last year due to poor health. I’m really hoping to do more than just fundraise this year though.
The training that I’m doing with my co-workers for the Corporate 5k (only two weeks after the relay!) should help. Yesterday I forgot to bring my trainers to work, and once I got home I didn’t really want to go back out to the park, so I walked 1.6 miles in my neighbourhood. While it was tiring (I did not stretch enough to warm up) I also felt really good afterwards- it was a huge mood boost.
I do need to be more systematic about fund-rising, however. I just hate to ask family for money, especially when I have other family members also fund-raising for good causes right now. ACS is very important to me, however- we have cancer survivors on both sides of the family (and I’d like to keep it that way).
