Two weekends ago, I went to an Event party with a friend from work and her circle of friends.
For those of you who have never gone to an Event party, it’s basically like one of those wedding expos, only not confined only to weddings. There were makeup artists, photographers, caterers, Mary Kay, “adult party” vendors, a cruise line, and all kinds of shoe/jewellery/handbag vendors! I immediately descended on a vintage resale vendor and snapped up a lovely little velvet clutch with a chain. This will be great for weddings and fancy evening events (you know, when I get dressed up once a year, lol!). For $5 though, I could hardly go wrong.
In addition to the free wine (I did indulge in one glass) and the MILK AND COOKIE BAR, which I thought was just brilliant, they also had a henna artist (the OM on my wrist is only just beginning to fade now!), and belly dancer performed who gave group lessons (I did one dance- what a workout!). They also had pole dancing lessons in one corner- I was not interested but we had fun keeping track of how many times the pole fell over! (Three, if you’re curious). They also had chair-dancing lessons, which I also passed on.
They had several games throughout the evening as well- I won a riddle challenge and brought home a “sexy things to do for him” kit, lol! There was also a free photo booth and we took some very funny photos! I passed on the back massage, although I took one of her cards since she does home visits and her prices are reasonable. I need to call and see if she has experience working with chronic pain patients.
The highlight of the evening was the door prizes. I won two dozen mini-cupcakes and one dozen large cupcakes from one of the bakery vendors. The samples they had were really, really good! I was trying to decide what I’d use them for and remembered that my co-worker’s baby shower was that week. They were able to make the cupcakes in time and they were a big hit! If you’re in Florida near Longwood, the company is Cut the Cake– great people and amazing cakes! I wish that I had thought to take a picture…
In all it was a very good time. I do wish they had more food options- I had some pasta, but if I’d known there wouldn’t be “real” food I would have had an early dinner before I arrived. A few folks brought food with them, which I might do next time. I would definitely go again! It was a bit late for a work night though, I was pooped!
