The last few days have been unusually busy. Friday after work hubby picked me up and we decided to join some of his co-workers for happy hour. This is something we almost never do but it was a lot of fun, good food was eaten, and I had my one alcoholic drink for the year (May seems to be my lush month, since it was one year ago on our cruise that I had a glass of wine). Hubby’s so-workers are a fun crew and it was nice to re-meet some of them (including a few who are actually now our neighbours and yet I still hadn’t managed to run into until now. Have I mentioned that I haven’t been getting out much lately?).
Of course, afterwards we were much too full of food to go grocery-shopping, but since dinner had taken care of itself it was all good.
Saturday was a wedding reception for another co-worker of hubby’s who has also become a friend. They’ve had the exciting fun of splitting their wedding/reception festivities between the US and China to include both families. It was really sweet, and I learned a bit about Chinese marriage customs. I also got to brush off the extent of my Chinese and greet the bride’s parents with a “Ni Hao” (and otherwise just bow and smile a lot). More co-worker shenangians durign the reception and then we fled from downtowm- between the Magic game and Cinco de Mayo we had no urge to hang around afterwards.
Today we saw the Avengers with friends and had dinner together afterward. It was one of those “What’s new with you?” sort of things where we all had big news and were embarrassed about being out of touch. We’ve made tentative plans to get together next weekend or Memorial Day weekend for more catching up. By the way- the movie? AWESOME. It’s going on our to-own list!
In other news, Zack is still a whiny brat who won’t let me sleep in on weekends. /gripe
