This is one of the writing prompts for the WEGO Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge. This isn’t a new writing prompt, although I don’t think that I’ve posted it here before, so I thought that I’d do a fresh take:
Dear Me (to be presented on my 16th birthday),
This is going to be a weird, weird year. A few suggestions:
Don’t date M. He’s creepy and pushy and Not Worth It.
Your body issues? You are AWESOME. Appreciate who you are.
Your knees- take extra-good care of them this summer. Wrap them, rest them, be gentle and DON’T go on the Scrambler- you will wrench your knee seriously. If you do, go straight to the doc. It may seem terrible, but it will be better in time.
DO kiss S- in a few months he’ll be in a committed relationship and you’ll never get the chance again. Take a risk!
You are a smart, caring person and you know it- it’s just easy to forget and get overwhelmed by everything else at times.
But most of all, be proud of yourself- you stand up for what you believe in, and your friends support you No Matter What.
Don’t worry so much and just enjoy things. You will go places and do things that you can’t even imagine right now, and more of your dreams will come true than you can possibly believe.
You know what is right in your heart, and while it will be hard, you will follow it and come to a much brighter place on the other side. You have family who loves you and that won’t ever change- in fact, it will get better.
(Speaking of- be a little nicer to your sister- you’re more alike than you think!)
You’re doing okay- don’t sweat the small stuff.
