Well, I finally managed to get the ornaments on the tree! I now somewhat regret not putting on the garland, so that will be a definite for next year.
You’ll notice that the bottom branches are rather on the bare side- a necessary action with inquisitive cats in the house. I’ve already had to retrieve several package bows that went missing (and replaced one that had been thoroughly nibbled). If you look very, very closely the black puddle under the tree is napping Lucas- the tree skirt is his favourite place this time of year!
Somethings that makes our tree special:
- Coloured ornaments gifted to me by a friend
- Paper ornaments hand-made by my sister
- Wood ornaments from the Christmas Village shops in Union Square
- Vintage silvered glass ornaments
- Tinsel made from actual tin!
In going through old cards, I found a gift card from my sister-in-law *gulp* three or four years old?! I went online and it was still good (yay!) so I bought some more nice glass ornaments and a festive table runner which might just get here in time for Christmas! My coloured glass ornaments have some fading from the sun, so I’m hoping to expand my collection further during the after-Christmas sales.
In other holiday news, the last of the packages and cards were mailed this weekend, so I’m happy to have that done! Friday night was hubby’s office dinner party. We ran a bit late so sat with some new folks and had a great time! We won a bottle of white wine as the door prize (which hubby with drink for both of us) and an unexpected cash gift. Things wrapped up early since the dancing was hosted at a club downstairs. We went down to socialize and listen to the live band and came to the shocking realization that we were in a bar on a Friday night! *gasp!* We stayed for about an hour before heading home, but it was nice to go out and mingle (and this year I wore flats so my feet and legs weren’t so angry!).
