Well, it was a good, but weird weekend. Thursday hubby and I went to dinner after work just because we were both too tired to think about cooking. I forced myself to have something different and eventually ended up regretting my choice. Ah well.
Friday we were hit by a massive storm, right at the end of the work day. While huddled in the entrance to the building hoping for a break to dash for the car, the skylight above us suddenly shattered. At first we thought it had been hit by lightning, but it later turned out that chair on either the balcony or on the roof was blown over the edge. I’m just grateful that no one was injured. There are trees that look like someone just pinched the tops off around campus- I wonder if we had a minor tornado touch down- it was quite dramatic.
Also, despite being soaked (once again) my shoes are still holding up- I just got a coupon for the shoe store so I will probably buy a second pair, since I suspect it’s only a matter of time. Hubby asked why I wear shoes that fall apart in the rain. I explained that getting rained on and stepping in a puddle that comes up to my ankles are two different things. I am tempted to buy a pair of rain boots, but I’m not sure how that would look in meetings (and Wellies are *expensive!*. I may have to get galoshes instead, except neither “galoshes” nor “rubbers” pull up the kind of searches I’m looking for in the US. I may have to order from the UK just to find what I’m looking for.)
Saturday we went on an adventure with a friend to a gaming store that is actually quite close to where were live. They had a good selection, and afterwards we went back to our house to play a new game. Our Sunday gaming group is back at our house and we’re starting a new campaign, which is always fun. We were up late, however, and I’m sandy-eyed this morning.
I have been having Adventures With Spiders and will post pictures (if I ever get to uploading them). My super at work lent me the elbow pads from her last surgery- they are much more comfortable than the ones I’ve been wearing, but I’m afraid that I’m going to stretch them all out. I managed to get all my housekeeping chores done this weekend but not much else. I will expand my plumbing expertise later with week replacing a leaking fill valve, and need to start test-driving cars (I’ve narrowed down my list).
I am mostly getting by but haven’t had the time/energy for the crafty things I want to work on. I know that you’re supposed to “make time” but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. I have two important doctor appointments back-to-back this week that I am trying not to obsess about too much. It’s not so much hoping for good news as hoping for no more bad news.
