I’m still working on my big family holiday post from last week- I’ll post it soon, I promise!
This past weekend was the Memorial Day holiday in the US. We didn’t do anything special except stay up extra-later on Sunday night watching the original The Italian Job and the remake back-to-back with friends- much fun! It was absolutely the latest I have stayed up in months- 1 am! I did not sleep late or nap at all this weekend, but I’m doing pretty well despite all that.
It was lovely to have an extra day to do weekend chores and not rush. We did yard work and swam in the pool- still haven’t broken in those new trainers yet, however! I did manage a lovely hip cramp while pulling weeds, but I’d been out there for an hour already- my body was clearly telling me that I had done enough! I also have terrible case of gardener’s cuticles (hangnails all over! ugh!). I am contemplating a manicure, which I never do.
We’re now starting the planning process for our cruise. We filled out the pre-boarding last night and will pick out our shore excursions this week. I’m starting to collect the things we’ll need to pack and will probably have my hair trimmed. We also need books! Lots and lots of books- I can hardly wait! I absolutely plan on a massage at some point. I am curious to see how much cheaper cruising is now that I don’t drink alcohol- I remember it being the biggest cost on our last two (and we’re lightweights!).
In other health news, I have a round of tests and appointments before we go. The numbness in my hands is getting somewhat worse, which is worrying. I spent a lot of time on the computer over the long weekend which doesn’t help, but if things don’t settle down I may try an emergency visit to my rheumatologist. I have also finally conceded that even if my digestion issues were originally triggered by my RA medications, they are just not clearing up now that I am off the meds. I’ll see my GP tomorrow and discuss seeing a GI. I will save that appointment for after the cruise, however, because I know that I am going to eat ridiculous amounts of delicious food, yay!
Also, enormously looking forward to seeing my cousins and Seattle again- must remember to contact friends in Vancouver and see if we can meet up the evening we’re in Victoria.
