Well, I hate when I’m prophetic. Home early Thursday with a nasty cough, back to bed Friday morning. A steady dose of cough medicine has helped but I’m feeling pretty tired- the coughing takes a lot out of you. Add odd dreams and even with all the extra sleep I could still use some more. Back at work today, but the weekend wasn’t all coughing and whining.
Saturday hubby and I finally did some much-needed sneaker shopping (I was about to write trainers but last time I did that in this blog I had to keep explaining what I meant). Unfortunately, if I want workout shoes without laces I will have to order them online and I haven’t had much luck with that in the past. I did get a good pair of shoes that should support my ankle and cushion my heel, so it should help my left ankle immensely. Hubby picked up some fancy running shoes, and they had a sale on socks so we both stocked up.
Afterwards we stopped by the theatre to see what was playing and Thor was out, so we bought tickets 10 minutes before the show and wandered in. Neither of us realised that it released this weekend and we ended up in the fourth row, but it was fairly fun (not Iron Man calibre, but entertaining nonetheless). Like most who appreciate the male physique, I found portions of the film eminently watchable. ;}
Sunday was Mother’s Day, which I spent playing phone-tag with mum trying to wish her a happy. I’m really looking forward to seeing my family in another week or so when they come down on holiday. Hubby and I joined his family to visit working reproductions of the Nina and Pinta that are currently docked nearby. The ships are as faithful to the originals as they could be, based on how little detail we actually have about them historically. I envied the volunteers sailing around on them from port to port, although it’s more something I would have done 15-20 years ago than now. Makes me realise how far back my sailing days really are *sigh*. We then had a seafood lunch on the dock- tasty, but everyone else had the same idea so it was a very *leisurely* lunch. Hubby was smart and remembered the sunblock, so neither of us are too toasty today.
After that was our usual Sunday gaming gathering. I really enjoy visiting friends and playing games, but I was pretty exhausted by the time we got there. It’s been many years since I spent hours crammed into the back seat of an auto, and I can truthfully say that I haven’t missed it a bit. I was very stiff and sore, and some things are aching today in reaction (I suspect).
Speaking of, does anyone know where I can find some *pretty* splints? My black-and-grey ones are serviceable enough, particularly for work, but I suddenly found myself wishing for a purple wrist splint or something else fun. I need to buy a second for days when both wrists are bad and I’m debating between a boring match or mixing it up a bit- I hate to draw attention, but if I’m going to have to wear it anyway…
