When I started out on errands yesterday I could see a storm on the horizon with plenty of lightning. I hoped that I could get everything done before the storm reached me and I almost succeeded… but not quite. The full fury of the storm hit just as I got to the craft store and an umbrella could only partially protect me (my feet and legs were soaked). Thankfully, this gave me additional incentive to dawdle while I waited for the storm to ease (it did a little, but not much). I did feel for the craft store staff, however, who were running around madly with buckets trying to contain leaks from what must be an older tin roof.
Below: observe my haul! Amethyst beads for a 27-bead mala, red tigerseye for a 54-bead mala, silver spacer beads for both and my current sandalwood mala, wire beading needles, red embroidery thread, size 10 bamboo knitting needles, a size 0 crochet hook, and 7 oz. of delicious yarn! I had planned on red or rust (maybe a dark purple) but this yarn is SO wonderful to touch I had to try it! I was disappointed that this Michael’s did not have fabric- I will have to locate next-nearest and see if they carry fabric or not. These beads are larger (and smaller) than what I’ve been working with so far- it will be interesting see how differently the mala turn out.
(Sorry that the picture is so terrible- my phone was not being cooperative today.)
I then came home for lunch, picking up groceries along the way (and realising that I forgot the grocery list- whoops!). I took a couple Tylenol and rested- my body was not happy with the weather and cleaning and running around. I then went to the other Michael’s in my area to see what else I could find:
Foil cups for my next batch of cake balls, three more strands of silver beads/spacers, and an organiser to store them in. With gift card from my sister-in-law and coupons, I spent .19 total! SIL definitely knows how to indulge my guilty pleasures, hee! (no fabric here either- ah well.)
I have re-assessed my cane-blingage and have put that on hold. I added a wrist strap which covers the part I was going to add rhinestones to, but I think that I will have plenty of craft supplies for a while!
