Mmmm- nothing like a little extra radiation around the holidays, eh?
I managed to squeeze in an appointment with my PCP about my ongoing ankle pain in my left foot. Aside from being annoying on its own, it is worrying since it is only one ankle and not both (and therefore not as likely to be caused by RA) and there is no swelling or bruising. I have tried heat and cold and am already dosed to the gills with arthritis meds, so the fact that it is impacting my ability to walk as much as it is is concerning at best. I have been trying to walk more lately, which is probably both helping and hurting in typical conflicting results for anything relating to my health. Since my ankle causes me to limp, I’m not doing my hips or back any favours.
Of course, there are other issues with this particular ankle as well: I sprained it last year and underwent four months of physical therapy, crutches, and a cane while it healed. This is also the foot with the occasional heel pain which we suspect may be plantar fasciitis. My PCP (or, more accurately, his NP) suspects it may be a hairline fracture, although I can’t remember any particular twists or falls. Script in hand I called my favourite radiology centre (yes, I actually have a favourite at this point) and they offered me a slot this afternoon which was unexpected but shouldn’t really be surprising- my office is practically deserted with everyone off on holiday. I’m happy to get the procedure out of the way; if they don’t find anything conclusive I’ll probably have an MRI next.
Ah well- another reason to keep my feet up over the holiday. ;D
