I had an unexpected package waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday: a wearable back brace for my electrotherapy treatment! I wasn’t expecting it, but think that it’s one of the most brilliant things ever- sticking electrodes onto your own back is tricky, as is trying to give someone directions when you can’t just point. Basically, the brace has Velcro electrodes, so I can move them around until they’re in the right place and just stick them on (and since my back problems are usually in the same area, I won’t have to recalibrate every time I use them- neat!).
Wearing the brace by itself made my back feel better (I have pretty poor posture at my home desk, I admit it). I dislike that I need to wet the conductor pads to make them effective, however. I want to talk to my therapist (since I wasn’t expecting this), but I will definitely post my results once I give it a try.
In other holiday gifting, hubby and I made a start on unpacking and assembling the elliptical machine, basically by cutting away the box around it. However, we were hung up rather quickly- it recommends putting a mat under the machine to protect the floors, and we haven’t one. Hubby will run out tomorrow and pick one up, and we’ll progress to the next phase Sunday once our company is gone. The cats are having a ball exploring the cardboard and Styrofoam bits, and Zack managed to get some tape in his fur, silly thing. There are 120 distinct parts- thankfully, most are assembled already and we just have to fit them together. It’s a 12-step process but takes two people. I see this as a further test of our matrimonial stability. ;D
