And now, for something completely unrelated to health. *gasp!* Yes, it can happen!
My bank, which has been lovely and convenient ever since I moved to Florida, has decided that “no one” uses just ATM cards anymore and is forcing cardholders to swap to check cards. I had a check card stolen and used in the past and therefore liked that my card was ATM-only. “But we have a great 800 number and you’ll never have to pay for an unauthorized purchase!” Not. The. Point. I’d rather prevent it from happening in the first place, rather than make it easier to fix when it does happen.
Now, as someone who provides customer service, I am perfectly aware that it saves the bank money to only provide and support one type of card. However, as a customer with good, logical reasons for my original choice, I see this as loss of a service I preferred. You cannot disable the check card feature, so we are being forced into a service that we don’t want. This has hubby and I het up enough that we’re looking into changing banks. Seriously. I am willing to bet that inertia will win in the end and we’ll stay, but for now I am fuming.
Anyway, just needed to vent myself a bit in writing. Yargleargh.
