Dental floss picks? ROCK! They’re a little odd until you get used to them, but much, much easier to manipulate than plain floss. Even if you don’t have mobility issues I recommend them for anyone who hates the hassle of loose floss. Of course, the environmentalist in me cringes at the added waste going into landfills, but I also really like avoiding the dentist, so I’ll find some way to sleep at night. I chose a mint flavoured one, which only stays minty for the first three teeth or so, heh. My package of 90 (store brand) also came with a handy little sleeve so I can carry one in my purse, which I think is just brilliant.
Earplugs? Well, the search continues. I went back to foam plugs, but unfortunately the newest ones stick too far out of my ears and get easily knocked out while I toss and turn at night. Also, I did not see that these are very vehemently “one use only” (speaking of landfills). I used a pair three nights in a row and now have a sore in my ear to show for it- ew. I will probably go back to the silicone earplugs, which are now looking much better in comparison.
In other sleep-related annoyances, the elastic strap on my sleeping mask rubs my ears- I may try replacing it with something softer (like a satin ribbon or somesuch) which would be more comfortable, and then I would not have velcro getting caught in my hair. Really, sleep shouldn’t be this difficult! (Of course, if they fixed the flickering flood light that shines in our bedroom window it wouldn’t be an issue, but I digress…)
Also, on the recommendation of my physical-trainer friend I ordered some MSM lotion to try. There are mixed reviews on how well it helps arthritis pain, but it would be much easier for my elbows than dipping them in the paraffin bath. I will post a full review of that when it arrives.
And Thought for the Day:
Why do doctors think it is a good idea to take blood on days when you have to fast? Do they think I have a personal driver who can chauffeur me around or something? Argh.
