… or “yet another topic I never dreamed of writing about when I started a blog”.
So, I have recently been beset by another round of “digestive distress”, mostly a combination of stress and poor food choices due to irregular schedule. Add in a deal of driving and not sticking to my usual foods and I suppose it was inevitable.
However, it has caused me to muse upon something that I’ve known that I do for quite a long time, without really considering why.
When I don’t feel well, I drink a carbonated beverage.
Now, on the surface, this makes sense, particularly if you’re talking about something like queasiness and ginger ale. However, I’m not nearly so selective. Caffeine for a mild to moderate headache also has its place (in moderation). But in my current state, a carbonated soft drink doesn’t do diddly (except be slightly rehydrating).
So why this impulse? And here is the birth of my theory on Belching Endorphins.
It’s quite simple: when you belch, you feel better. It is a little bit of lightness and relief, no matter what. It’s quite logical if somewhat silly, and there is my Deep Thought for the day. Enjoy!

I totally get that! Alas, I discovered that carbonated beverages are a prime source of heartburn for me, so I’ve had to find another source of endorphins (dark chocolate, anyone…)
Much more socially acceptable, as well! ;D
Burp!
