In “other news that’s not news”, it’s flu shot season again, and, as every year, I get a ringside seat on multiple doctors debating whether I should get a shot or not. Ever since the disastrous reaction of 2008 the yearly decision always eventually boils down to “no”. This year I also have an allergist ready to weigh in and a new rheumatologist, so all bets are off. If it ends up two versus two I’ll have to find a tie breaker…
I forgot to mention the wonderful gifts my Mom sent me for my birthday! Not only did she buy me the purse that I was looking at, but also a few little items from my wish list: a waterproof notepad (after the last couple got soaked in my handbag I thought it was a good idea), an all-weather pen (see above), and Labyrinth on DVD (on for my favourite moves!). The purse is terrific so far and I’ll write a proper product review now that I’ve been using it for a while. My only wish was that I had gone with a darker colour- it’s almost a blue-grey and doesn’t blend with my workwear as well as the darker grey that I envisioned. The hazards of picking out colours online!
Here’s an incredibly cool thing: BBC News: 3D Printer To Help Foot Pain Sufferers I’ve been following 3D printers avidly- a friend has one and what he can imagine to print astounds me. I heard recently of an entire printed guitar and it was actually quite a good instrument. This sort of medical application just sounds wonderful…
Oh, and speaking of the allergist, we have reached that magical time when I have an allergic reaction to every shot. I understand that this is the point, but deliberately making myself itch for a few days every week seems counter-productive. :p
